40 Days of Service Day 17

Morning Prayer: Lord, how can I serve you today?

Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:15

Imagine you have a job, where at the end of the day you must present your work to your boss. Your boss would then meticulously evaluate your work and then would stamp your work approved or rejected. What if your daily wages were determined by that evaluation? Most people would not like a job like that, because sometimes we have bad day and do not get everything accomplished. Sometimes we have a good day and everything goes smoothly. People might not mind their daily wages being determined by a good day, but a bad day could be devastating.

No matter how good or bad yesterday was, it is over. If you had a bad day yesterday, forget about it, today is a new day. If you had a great yesterday, forget about it, today is a new day. No matter what kind of plans you have for tomorrow, there are no guarantees. Today is the day to serve God. Paul tells Timothy, “Do your best…” Nobody can ever ask more out of you than your best. If you do your best, you will have nothing to be ashamed of at the end of the day, and God will provide your daily bread.
