40 Days of Service Day 26

Morning Prayer: Lord, how can I serve others today?

Scripture: Romans 12:3-8

On December 1st 1913, Henry Ford installed the first moving assembly line for the mass production of an automobile. It decreased the amount of time required to build an automobile from over 12 hours to 2 hours and 30 minutes. Mr. Ford broke the Model T's assembly into 84 steps and then trained each of his workers to do just one. Imagine that God built the church to be an assembly line. God is trying to make a mass production of disciples. He breaks down the assembly into 84 unique steps and then trains each of His servants to do just one. It is worldly to think that the step you have been entrusted with is the most important step in the assembly. We need to stop thinking like the world thinks and have our minds renewed so that we can see things the way that God sees things.

Paul does not use an assembly line to describe God's view of us. Instead he says we are the body of Christ. All of us have been uniquely gifted to serve in the body of Christ. Paul's words that most intrigued me were, "each member belongs to all the others." The gifts and talents that God has taught me, do not belong to me alone, but to the whole body.
